stella and the night sky
feels like it's just me and the crickets holding on to the night. haven't seen the australian sky since we got here, but i'm sure there's an amazing star parade hiding behind those stubborn clouds. lying here awake, while my sisters sleep tight since a while back, i realize there are a lot of things i could tell about them. like how greta always falls asleep on her back and how sunniva gives away humming sounds just as she enters the dream world. but i would never do that. that's way too personal.
goodnight, crickets
you're on your own now

no rips in jeans!
bananas and fruit dogs
at the brisbane airport there are fruit dogs. greta was stopped by one when passing through the customs and a lingering smell of banana from her bag reached its pretty little beagle nose. she was let through as soon as she clarified that she had already enjoyed her banana on the flight hours ago. bringing bananas and other fruit into australia is a big no no. therefore they use fruit dogs. they come in different shapes and flavors.
oh holy night!
we were thirsty, so we took a ride into downtown brisbane. only to find the complete city switched off. all restaurants, pubs and bars were closed, no lights in the windows and random kids were hanging around in the streets waiting for the clubs to reopen after midnight, when xmas day turned in to boxing day. we made it our quest for the night to find a place where we could enjoy one or two schooners of the local brew. we were successful, even though it certainly didn't look promising at first. hours later, when approaching the casino for a night cap we were denied entry by the doorkeeper: "sorry ma'am, no rips in jeans". he didn't approve of our outfit, which amused us massively. so long, brisbane!
go wristbands on the left arm!
woodford folk festival is taking off tomorrow. we'll be playing our first show in six weeks. might be fun! and oh, the rain has been pissing it down constantly since we got here - the festival site would make any mud wrestler believe they've died and gone to heaven...

escaping the white xmas
why stay white when you can go green? tomorrow we'll cross lands and oceans to discover a new continent. australia is summer heat, folk and rock festivals, club gigs and probably loads of fun (plus spiders, snakes and great whites).
hear from us soon again, when landed safely in down underland.
in the meantime: HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL OF YOU FROM ALL OF US!
on our way there:
airports won't be snowed in, nor crowded. and the few people who are there will be throwing merry xmas-wishes all around. there won't be an engine problem and while the wings are being defrosted with that pink stuff, we'll be toasting in bubbles and laughing over the very important, yet funny rescue folders.
hear from us soon again, when landed safely in down underland.
in the meantime: HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL OF YOU FROM ALL OF US!
